3 days 🔨 @dougbucci What if your body was your mo 3 days 🔨 @dougbucci

What if your body was your most important material?

@dougbucci has spent his career doing exactly that — transforming his own medical data as a lifelong Type 1 diabetic into jewelry and large-scale installations that ask us to consider what it means to live inside a body.

“How do you make the intangible tangible? That has really been something that has been a part of my work.”

In 3 days he brings that question to the stage at Craft Meets Code. Come find out what happens when data becomes something you can hold.

In 4 days you’ll be in the room with @jenniferaltmann — the journalist who has visited jewelry artists on four continents and has spent years telling the stories our field needs told.

“There’s a magical connection between jewelry artists and their materials. Often they fall in love with a certain material and decide they need to make something with it, no matter how unconventional or challenging it is.”

Come hear her tell it in person.

🔥 CCSF JMA Open House
 📅 Monday, October 19, 2026, 6–8:30 PM
📍 New JMA 114 Lab, STEAM Building, 50 Frida Kahlo Way, SF

CCSF’s Jewelry Metal Arts program is growing, and Jen Moore is part of why. The program just moved into a brand-new studio in the STEAM building, with expanded class offerings for the first time in a decade.

Jen holds an MFA in Jewelry and Metals from San Diego State University and a BA in Art History from UC Berkeley. She teaches across the full range of the program: fabrication at every level, from complete beginners to advanced students, plus a specialized casting class.

Outside the classroom, Jennifer’s own work draws on historic jewelry forms and Victorian optical toys, brooches and necklaces that hide text, distort it, or only reveal it in fragments, exploring how we read each other and what gets lost in translation.

What’s in it for you: come see the brand-new lab where Jennifer teaches, meet her in person, and get a look at what a growing program looks like up close.

CCSF Faculty Jennifer Moore and Jack da Silva will present:
* A walk through of our new STEAM Jewelry Metal Arts 114 Lab
* Brief background of the CCSF JMA program
* Overview of the JMA curriculum
* Feature work and images of CCSF JMA students and alumni
* Respond to any questions

 📅 Monday, October 19, 2026, 6–8:30 PM
📍 New JMA 114 Lab, STEAM Building, 50 Frida Kahlo Way, SF
Jack da Silva’s first metalworking lesson wasn’t in a studio. It was a bucket of bent nails his father handed him to straighten for the family’s mausoleum business.
“When my Dad handed me a bucket of bent nails, I was not thrilled,” Jack says. “Yet it helped me learn how to grip the hammer handle, develop the direction and sequence of hammer blows, and protect my hands.”
That’s forty years of teaching Jewelry Metal Arts later, and Jack is still at it: currently the Jewelry Metal Arts Program Coordinator and Professor at CCSF, where he’s guided the program through a global pandemic and into a brand-new studio in the STEAM building.
Jack has also spent fourteen years serving on the boards of organizations like the Society of North American Goldsmiths, the California Blacksmith Association, and our own Metal Arts Guild. From 1999 to 2008 he founded and ran MAKER, a week-long adult metal arts retreat near Pescadero that brought together renowned presenters and students side by side.
What’s in it for you: meet the person who’s spent four decades building the Bay Area’s metal arts community, one student at a time, and see the space he’s built it in.
