Please do not submit sensitive personal information unless it is necessary for the relevant service or specifically requested by MAG.
MembershipWorks
MAG uses MembershipWorks, operated by SourceFound, Inc., to provide membership administration, member accounts, directory profiles, event listings and registration, forms, payment-related services, and other membership functions.
Information entered into MembershipWorks may be processed and stored by MembershipWorks on MAG’s behalf. MembershipWorks acts as a service provider and data processor for membership information.
MembershipWorks also offers privacy controls for member-directory listings. Depending on MAG’s configuration, members may be able to control whether they are listed and whether information such as an address, telephone number, contact name, or messaging option is displayed.
For more information, see the MembershipWorks privacy and security information and MembershipWorks terms.
Member Directory
MAG may publish member names, business names, artwork, biographies, website links, social-media links, and other profile information through its online member directory.
Information placed in a public directory may be viewed, copied, or indexed by visitors and search engines. Members should only add information they are comfortable making public.
Where available, members may use MembershipWorks privacy settings to limit directory visibility. Members may also contact MAG to request assistance updating or removing directory information.
Payments
Payments for memberships, renewals, event registrations, donations, and other purchases are processed through MembershipWorks using Stripe.
Stripe collects and processes payment-card information on MAG’s behalf. MAG does not ordinarily receive or store complete credit- or debit-card numbers on its WordPress website. MAG may receive limited transaction information, such as the payer’s name, contact information, payment amount, transaction date, payment status, and a partial card identifier.
Stripe processes information according to its own security practices and privacy policy. For more information, see the Stripe Privacy Policy.
Events and Registrations
When you register for an event, MAG may collect your name, contact information, ticket selection, membership status, payment details, accessibility information you choose to provide, and responses to event-registration questions.
MAG may use this information to administer the event, communicate with attendees, process payments, maintain attendance records, and improve future programming.
Some events may use third-party registration, videoconferencing, venue, or ticketing services. Information submitted directly to those services is also governed by their privacy policies.
Email Communications
If you subscribe to MAG newsletters or provide your email address through a membership, registration, or contact form, we may use it to send organizational news, membership notices, renewal reminders, event information, transaction receipts, and other relevant communications.
MAG may use an external email service, such as Mailchimp, to manage mailing lists and deliver messages. You may unsubscribe from promotional email by following the unsubscribe link provided in the message. Transactional or administrative messages related to an active membership, registration, or payment may still be sent when necessary.
Comments
When visitors leave comments, the website may collect the information shown in the comment form, along with the visitor’s IP address and browser user-agent string, to assist with spam detection and site security.
An anonymized string created from an email address, sometimes called a hash, may be provided to the Gravatar service to determine whether the commenter uses that service. The Gravatar and Automattic Privacy Policy applies. After a comment is approved, the commenter’s profile image may be publicly visible with the comment.
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam-detection service.
Media
If you upload images to the website or a member profile, avoid uploading files containing embedded location information, including EXIF GPS data. Website visitors may be able to download images and extract embedded information.
By uploading media, you represent that you have the right to provide and publish it.
Cookies
The website and its service providers may use cookies and similar technologies for login sessions, member-account functions, security, preferences, embedded services, analytics, and site performance.
If you leave a comment, you may choose to save your name, email address, and website in cookies for convenience. These cookies may remain for approximately one year.
When you visit the WordPress login page, the website may set a temporary cookie to determine whether your browser accepts cookies. It contains no personal information and is normally discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, WordPress and MembershipWorks may set cookies needed to maintain your session and save display preferences. WordPress login cookies generally remain for two days, or up to two weeks when “Remember Me” is selected. Display-preference cookies may remain for approximately one year. Logging out removes the applicable login cookies.
Administrators and other authorized contributors may receive an additional cookie when editing or publishing content. This cookie identifies the edited post and normally expires after one day.
You can remove or block cookies through your browser settings. Disabling essential cookies may prevent member login, event registration, forms, or other website functions from working properly.
Analytics
MAG may use website analytics tools, including Google Analytics 4, to understand aggregate website traffic and improve the site. These tools may collect information such as pages visited, approximate location, browser and device type, referral source, and interactions with the website.
Analytics services may use cookies or similar technologies. Information collected by Google is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.
MAG does not use the former Universal Analytics property as its current analytics system.
Embedded Content and External Links
Pages may include embedded or linked content from other services, including videos, maps, social-media platforms, event-registration services, payment providers, and other websites.
Embedded content may behave as though you visited the provider’s website directly. The provider may collect information, use cookies, apply additional tracking, or monitor your interaction with its content, particularly if you are logged into an account with that provider.
MAG is not responsible for the privacy practices or content of external websites.
