Who doesn’t love tips – bench tips, photography, marketing, quick tips to make life easier in the studio! Time to get to know your fellow MAG members at our Annual Metalsmithing Day, as this year our theme is “5 Minute Tips” from anyone who wants to participate. Continuing on our theme of Community, we’re inviting representatives of local educational institutions, metal groups, and leaders in the community to present tips and introduce us to what they have to offer. Got a time-saving favorite tool/technique that you want to share with MAG members –we’d love to hear about it and see it in action! This is a great way to introduce yourself to our metals community and meet fellow members; plus no pressure, it’s only 5 minutes!
Come hear tips from: Alan Revere (Revere Academy), Jack da Silva (MAKER), Marilyn da Silva (CCA), Deb Lozier (CCA), Dawn Nakanishi (Cabrillo College), Harriete Estel Berman (Professional Guidelines), Christine Dhein (Revere Academy), David Casella (Crucible, Art Academy, Scintillant), Davide Bigazzi (Davide Bigazzi Studio), Jo-Ann and John Donivan, Edith Sommer, Shana Astrachan, emiko oye — just to name a few!
Meet the MAG Board of Directors and hear what we have planned for 2012. And of course, for you jewelers, wearing your creations is a must; we want to see what you’ve been up to!
IF YOU WANT TO SHARE A TIP:
- Send an email by February 29th to: president@metalartsguildsf.org with the subject header: “5 min Tips” to pre-register and ensure that you’ll be included in the lineup! Please tell us the TITLE of your tip and if you’ll be plugging any classes, schools, or organizations during your time onstage.
- There will be a folding table onstage with a bench pin and flexible shaft plugged in. There will not be fire, so no soldering tips. You must bring your own tools for your demo.
- A mac laptop and digital projector will be available for digital presentations, such as through Powerpoint or Preview/iPhoto.
- If you are showing a digital presentation or images, we’d prefer you email us with the files by March 1 so to make for better flow in the program.
